UPDATE: Jeff Lemire & Co. werkeln an zweiter wöchentlicher "DC New 52" Serie! + ANIMAL MAN endet mit # 29

Die Gerüchteküche brodelt bereits seit mehreren Wochen: Angeblich solle DC Comics für 2014 den Start von insgesamt drei -!- wöchentlich erscheinenden -!!- Comic-Serien planen (nämlich je eine zu Batman, Superman und dem restlichen DC Universe).

Nachdem nun kürzlich offiziell der Start des Batman Family Weekly "BATMAN ETERNAL" seitens DC für das Frühjahr bestätigt wurde, folgt nun die nächste offizielle Ankündigung:

Ab Mai startet "The New 52: Future’s End" eine wöchentliche DCU- Serie, mit einer Gratis # 0 Ausgabe, die im UNFUG  am " Free Comic Book Day 2014" erhältlich sein wird.

Autoren der Serie: Jeff Lemire, Dan Jurgens, Keith Giffen sowie Brian Azzarello. Die Start-Ausgabe wird von  Ethan Van Sciver optisch gestaltet werden.

 The New 52: Future’s End soll auf drei Zeitebenen spielen: der Zukunft (5 Jahre +, hier sehen wir "Batman Beyond" in Aktion), der Gegenwart ("Firestorm" u.a.) sowie der Vergangenheit (mit "Frankenstein" u.a.).

...dann fehlt jetzt ja nur noch die Ankündigung für das "Superman Family" Weekly.

fast zeitgleich die Ankündigung von Autor Jeff Lemire, das er ANIMAL MAN mit der Nummer 29 beenden wird; DC Comics stellen die Serie auf seinen Wunsch hin dann ein.

Auf seinem Blog schreibt er hierzu:

"My run as the writer of Animal Man, and the series itself, will come to an end with March’s Issue 29, an issue which I will both write and draw along with Travel Foreman. As sad as I am to be finished writing the solo stories of Buddy, Maxine, Ellen and Cliff, I am also excited to announce that I will continue to write the monthly adventures of Animal Man when he becomes regular member of the new JUSTICE LEAGUE book I am writing...."

Der Nachrichtenagentur "Associated Press" (AP) gab Lemire anläßlich der "Future's End"- Ankündigung ein Interview:

Lt. Lemire soll diese (zweite) wöchentliche "New 52"- Serie die Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft des DC Universe erkunden. Kurzer Auszug:

"Really, what we're trying to do with this book is to explore the nature of what a hero is and we're doing that, obviously by playing with the future of the New 52 timeline," he said. "Past present and future all colliding in this story line."
