Aufgrund eines Fehlers wurde „The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special #1“, das bereits im Juli angekündigt wurde, nicht im DC Comics-Katalog  für Oktober/ November 2022 -Releases gelistet bzw. abgebildet.

Aus diesem Grund wissen interessierte Leser / Sammler / Fans, die an der Bestellung und dem Kauf dieses umfangreichen Sonderheftes interessiert sind, möglicherweise nicht, dass das endgültige Bestellschlussdatum ("Order Deadline"), an dem Comic-Shops diesen Titel letztmals vorbestellen können, schnell näher rückt. (Der endgültige Bestellschluss für dieses Special ist für uns morgen.)

Es stehen eine Reihe von Cover-Varianten zur Auswahl, darunter die Version "Black Bagged" (die wie einst das legendäre "Superman # 75" inkl. schwarzer Armbinde ausgeliefert wird). Einige der Varianten sind "Open Order" (d. h. der Comic-Shop Deines Vertrauens kann diese Cover direkt in beliebiger Menge beim Vertrieb vorbestellen) und einige basieren auf der Anzahl der vom Einzelhändler bestellten Exemplare (also z.B. "1:50" Varianten u.ä.). 

Das „The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special #1“ wird in den USA am 8. November 2022 erscheinen und bei uns im UNFUG dann zeitnah in der darauffolgenden Woche verfügbar sein.(Unsere Abonnenten können das Heft - Hauptcover und/oder Varianten - bei uns vorbestellen, so lange der Vorrart reicht)

Es wird zusätzlich auch eine leicht erweiterte Neu-Auflage von "Superman, Vol. II # 75" geben (Auslieferung ebenfalls Anfang November) sowie eine erweiterte Neu-Auflage der "Deluxe Hardcover Edition".

W=Writer, A=Artist, P=Penciller, I=Inker, C=Colorist, L=Letter   Writer and artist Dan Jurgens provided the below statement on the legacy of The Death of Superman and the upcoming release of The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special #1: Even now, 30 years after the "Death of Superman” first came out, every single convention or store appearance I do has at least one person who comes up to me with Superman #75 or the first “Death of Superman” collected edition and says, “This is the book that got me into comics. And I’m still here, reading, all these years later.” Most times, it’s more than one. Sometimes, multiple people arrive at my table at the same time and share their memories, which is always fun to experience.   Their tales are often quite similar. Typically, media coverage of Superman’s death compelled them or a parent to drop by a local store to pick [the issue] up. In some cases, their parents let them skip school the day of the book's release so they could stand in line to get a copy. Some talk of how their store was sold out and they spent days looking all over town to find one.   I’m not alone in that experience. It’s common for the entire team of writers and artists who worked on Superman at the time. It was a singularly unique moment in comics, when a particular story was covered by every form of national and local media alike.   It’s hard to tell people what those days were like, but every comic shop in the country had long lines of people outside the door waiting to buy THAT BOOK.   All these years later, it’s a great pleasure to get back together with the story’s original creative teams to celebrate a truly exciting time in comics. DC Celebrates GEORGE PÉREZ’s Birthday For All Of June

DC will celebrate the 68th birthday of George Pérez, one of the titans of the comic industry, with a two-page spread featuring some of his most beloved characters in each of its June periodical releases. Working from a layout designed by Dan Jurgens, some of the industry’s biggest names including Jim Lee, Walter Simonson, Alex Ross, Dave Gibbons, Todd McFarlane, Daniel Sampere, Jerry Ordway, Nicola Scott and many more, collaborated on the colorful spread.

“When I was asked to come up with a design and layout that would honor George Pérez and his many incredible contributions to DC Comics over the years, I was truly honored,” said Dan Jurgens. “I have admired George’s work since I first saw it and have had the good fortune to work with him in different capacities, on a number of projects. More importantly, I’ve been able to see the way George treats fans and readers, always smiling, gregarious and approachable. It was a joy to watch this cover come together and I’m sure everyone who contributed feels the same way.”

In addition to being included in all of DC’s June issues, the tribute will also be featured as a variant cover for Dark Crisis # 7. Each issue of the event series will feature a cover highlighting a previous crisis event from DC’s history, starting with the genre defining Crisis on Infinite Earths by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez for issue #1. Artwork and additional details on each of the covers will be announced at a later date.

"George Pérez is one of my favorite comic storytellers of all time. To say he’s a ‘great artist’ is a massive understatement,” said Dark Crisis Writer Joshua Williamson. “His work on the original Crisis of Infinite Earths inspired so much of my love for DC Comics. When I saw DC editors pull together this incredible piece with so many amazing legendary artists celebrating George, I won't lie, it was emotional.  And now it's an honor to have this tribute be a cover to Dark Crisis." 

 

A special version of the Dark Crisis # 7 variant cover will be available for sale by The Hero Initiative to raise funds for one of Pérez’s favorite charities. Pérez is a founding member of Hero Initiative’s board of directors and has served as chair of its Disbursement Committee.

"That's Armageddon!" - Kündigungen bei DC! DC DIRECT wird geschlossen! Zahl der Heft-Serien reduziert...

WarnerMedia hat in den vergangenen Tagen in vielen Bereichen (Film, TV etc.) Abteilungen zusammengelegt und dadurch nun "nicht mehr benötigtem Personal" gekündigt.

Nun hat es auch DC  getroffen, sowohl im verlegerischen / Print- Bereich, wie auch beim DC Universe digital streaming service wurde Schätzungen zu folge etwa ein Drittel der Belegschaft gekündigt.

Dem US- Entertainment-Branchenblatt The Hollywood Reporter zu folge, gehören zu den auf die Straße gesetzten DC Mitarbeitern unter anderem editor-in-chief Bob Harris, senior VP of publishing strategy and support services Hank Kanalz, VP of marketing and creative services Jonah Weiland, VP global publishing initiatives and digital strategy Bobbie Chase, senior story editor Brian Cunningham, sowie executive editor Mark Doyle hauptververantwortlich für den Start von DC's "Black Label" Reihe).

Jim Lee bleibt DC erhalten in seiner Funktion als  Chief Creative Officer; nur den Posten des Herausgebers hat er jetzt nicht mehr. In seiner neuen/alten Funktion soll Lee als Liaison zwischen  DC und anderen Bereichen von Warner Media tätig sein.

Die prozentual meisten Kündigungen gab es wohl beim DC Universe digital streaming service, der  komplett innerhalb Warners HBO Max integriert werden wird. ("DC Universe" ist/war die Heimat der TV-Serien "Titans", "Doom Patrol", "Stargirl", "Young Justice" und "Harley Quinn"; "HBO Max" dagegen der Sender auf dem es die "Watchmen" TV-Serie gibt.)

Insider betonen aber, das die Schließung des "DC Universe" streaming Dienstes, bzw. seine Zusammenlegung mit "HBO Max", beschlossene Sache war, in dem Moment als Internetriese "AT&T" Warner Bros. aufkaufte.

DC Direct, die Firma, über die DC Comics seit über 20 Jahren meist liebevoll - detaillierte Actionfiguren, Statuen und anderes exklusives Merchandise anbot, wird geschlossen!

Es ist zu erwarten, das DC Comics in den kommenden Monaten ihren Output an Heft-Serien (nicht aber Büchern / Collected Editions) extrem reduzieren wird!

(also ähnlich, wie bereits Disney mit Marvel vor einigen Monaten vorging: Ein Großteil der Mitarbeiter wurde gekündigt, anschließend die Zahl der Heft-Serien relativ drastisch reduziert!)

Diese Restrukturierung gilt offiziell auch als Reaktion auf die COVID-19 Pandemie, die in den USA (auch) der comic book Industrie zu schaffen macht.

Nach 35 Jahren erstmals als Reprint: DC Comics' "Who's Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe"

Darauf warten DC Sammler bereits seit Jahrzehnten!

Im Laufe der Jahre, immer 'mal wieder angekündigt (in verschiedenen Publikationsformaten) und dann doch wieder verschoben oder abgesagt...

"Who's Who", DC's Lexika-ähnliche Maxi-Serie(n), in der alle Charactere, Locations, Konzepte etc. abgebildet und erläutert wurden.

Die Original Maxi- und Mini-Serien plus Ergänzungen liefen zwischen 1985 und 1993.

Nun werden alle "Who's Who"-Serien in einem fetten Hardcover Buch erstmals neu-veröffentlicht als "Who's Who Omnibus Vol. 1". (lt. Ankündigung werden die inhaltlichen Angaben für das Reprint nicht überarbeitet; d.h., der Omnibus enthät den DC Multiverse - Wissensstand von ca. 1989 !)

"..."How Harley Got Her Groove Back," ...In fact, the cast at large is key to Harley Quinn's success. Harley screeches so much I actually became worried for Cuoco's vocal cords, but the shrieking nonetheless remains essential to Harley's personal development. She's no longer the nasally, sexxii baby-voiced Noo Yawka dripping at Joker's heels, but a rage machine about to explode into flames. She's often tempered by Ivy's voice-of-reason deadpan, a masterful turn from Bell, who in fact wrote and directed an entire feature film about the art of vocal talent. Other main cast standouts include Alan Tudyk, doing his cartoon pastiche Alan Tudyk thing, and Jason Alexander, who infuses Sy Borgman with craggy Yiddishkeit...."
