Ralph McQuarrie, der quasi "optische Co-Creator" des STAR WARS Universums ist tot; er verstarb friedlich in seinem Haus in Berley, California. Er wurde 82 Jahre alt und hinterläßt seine Frau Joan.

Den Einfluß den dieser visionäre Künstler auf die Optik der "Galaxis weit, weit entfernt von hier..." hatte darf niemals unterschätzt werden, war er doch tatsächlich der erste Mitarbeiter überhaupt, der im Jahre 1975 von George Lucas eingestellt wurde um dem Regisseur mittels seiner Concept Art zu helfen, das Projekt "THE STAR WARS: From The Adventures Of Luke Starkiller" an ein großes Hollywood Studio zu verkaufen; schließlich griff auf Grund des Drehbuchs (von Lucas) und der Concept Art (von McQuarrie) die 20th Century Fox zu .

Lest bitte hier, was Produzent, Regisseur und Visionär George Lucas zum Tode seines ersten Mitarbeiters und Konzept-Designers zu Papier brachte:


"I am deeply saddened by the passing of such a visionary artist and such a humble man. Ralph McQuarrie was the first person I hired to help me envision Star Wars. His genial contribution, in the form of unequaled production paintings, propelled and inspired all of the cast and crew of the original Star Wars trilogy. When words could not convey my ideas, I could always point to one of Ralph's fabulous illustrations and say, 'Do it like this.'

"RÄCHER SAMMELN!" / "AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!"(zumindest in England...)

In Großbritannien wird die Verfilmung der Marvel Comic Serie "The Avengers" (dt. "Die Rächer") NICHT unter diesem Titel in die Kinos kommen.

Grund: Die "Original" AVENGERS tv-show (in deutschen Landen bekannter als MIT SCHIRM, CHARME & MELONE) aus den swingin' sixties, die in UK auch jetzt noch populärer ist als der gleichnamige Super-Heroes- Marvel Comic.

(Die Kult-TV-Serie THE AVENGERS um Geheimagent "John Steed" gibt es seit 1961; Marvel's AVENGERS erst seit 1963.)

In England wird der Film daher jetzt als "AVENGERS ASSEMBLE" in's Kino kommen. Die Abbildung oben zeigt das aktuelle US- Plakat (mit britischem Titel- & Starttermin!), im web bereits "gelobt" als "Meisterwerk des Photoshop"...

"DCs NEW 52": JUSTICE LEAGUE # 6 - Pandora öffnet ihre Büchse?!

PANDORA - Fans aufgepaßt:

Die mysteriöse Gestalt, die erstmals in "FLASHPOINT" # 5 in Erscheinung trat (und dort geheimnisvoll von den diversen Timelines des "alten" DC UNIVERSE redete), um dann anschließend in ALLEN "Einser"-Ausgaben der "DCs NEW 52"-Serien aufzutreten (unabhängig davon, in welcher Zeitebene diese angesiedelt waren oder auf welcher Parallel-Erde), ist wieder da!

Wer ihren nächsten Auftritt nicht verpassen will, sollte sich das aktuelle JUSTICE LEAGUE # 6 bei uns kaufen, das eine exklusive Back-Up-Story mit der Dame enthält!

Autor Geoff Johns sah sich vor kurzem genötigt via Twitter die Fans darauf hinzuweisen, das PANDORA n i c h t Darkseid's Tochter sei! “Yes, Darkseid’s Daughter… though it is NOT Pandora. Pandora has her own story and mythology coming up soon.”

"Gay" Archie Comics: US- Konservative rufen zum Boykott der Verkaufsstellen auf! Reaktionen von Verlag, Lesern, Künstlern (z.B. Gail Simone & Co.)

"Archie" # 635 & "Life With Archie" Magazine # 16

...und die "Kontroverse" um die neuen Charactere und Storylines innerhalb der "ARCHIE" - Comic Book & -Magazin- Reihen geht weiter.

Amerikanische konservative Vereinigungen (wie etwa "onemillionmums" oder "American Family Association") wettern via Internet oder Auftritten in Fernseh-Shows gegen die Story im aktuellen "Life With Archie" Magazin # 16, in dem gezeigt wird, wie Archie- Cliquen- Mitglied KEVIN KELLER seinen Freund heiratet.

(Anm.: die Stories in der "Life With Archie"-Magazin-Reihe sind "Soap Opera"-lastiger als die Stories in den regulären Comic Books, und zeigen die Entwicklung der Comic Book- Charactere aus dem Städtchen Riverdale in möglichen Zukunfts-Szenarien; d.h. auch: die Figuren sind hier etwas älter (quasi "Twentysomethings") als in den Standard-Heftchen-Geschichten des Verlags. Trotz "reiferer" / erwachsenerer Storylines, sind die Geschichten im Magazin aber "Familientauglich" gehalten (also gibt es z.B. keine Sex-Szenen o.ä.; mehr als Händchen-halten, küssen usw. wird nicht gezeigt.) und "trotzdem" unterhaltsam.

...umso unverständlicher, das gewisse (politische) Gruppierungen in den USA es nicht lassen können, stets gegen "zu populäre Darstellungen" von Minderheiten (Schwule, Lesben, Schwarze, Juden etc. etc.) in den Medien (hier: Comics) herumzuwettern.

So wird die US- Spielzeug-Laden-Kette "Toys ‘R’ Us" derzeit von konservativen Gruppen aufgefordert, ARCHIE Comics aus dem Verkauf zu nehmen (eben wg. der Figur KEVIN KELLER bzw. der "Gay Marriage"-Stories im Magazin), ansonsten würde man zum Boykott der Shops aufrufen; hier ein Auszug aus dem Gestammel dieser Organisation:

"Select Toys ‘R’ Us stores are now selling ‘Archie’ comic books with a same-sex wedding displayed on the front cover. The front cover reads “Just Married” with two men marrying and one is wearing a service uniform. This comic book is being sold in select stores across the country...

...Unfortunately, children are now being exposed to same-sex marriage in a toy store. This is the last place a parent would expect to be confronted with questions from their children on topics that are too complicated for them to understand. Issues of this nature are being introduced too early and too soon, which is becoming extremely common and unnecessary.

A trip to the toy store turns into a premature discussion on sexual orientation and is completely uncalled for. Toys ‘R’ Us should be more responsible in the products they carry.

Please send Toys ‘R’ Us an email letter requesting they remove all the same-sex “Just Married – Archie” comic books immediately from their shelves.
