ERGÄNZT! DC NATION # 0 mit neuen Stories von King, Snyder & Bendis! Prologe zu Batman # 50, Man Of Steel # 1, Justice League: No Justice

Anfang Mai veröffentlicht DC Comics "DC Nation" # 0, ein 32 seitiges (fast)- Gratis Comic Heft (Coverpreis: 25 US- cents), in dem drei NEUE Stories der Autoren Tom King, Scott Snyder und Brian Michael Bendis zu finden sein werden!.

Die von Bendis getextete Superman-Story in "DC Nation" # 0 dient hierbei als Prolog zu seiner ab 30. Mai erscheinenden "Man of Steel" weekly Mini Serie. Gezeichnet von José Luis García-López, dessen erste Arbeit für den Verlag eine Story in "Action Comics" # 448 war, und dessen DC Artwork seitdem unzählige DC Merchandising Produkte ziert. (In Deutschland dürften besonders seine damaligen Supie-Team-Up Stories aus "DC Comics Presents" bekannt sein, die der Ehapa Verlag in den 70er und 80er Jahren gerne in seinen Reihen "Superman Album", "Superman Sonderausgabe" und "Superman Taschenbuch" veröffentlichte!)

Scott Snyder’s Story dient als "Preview" des Justice League Event "Justice League: No Justice" (einer vierteiligen, wöchentlichen Mini-Serie). Diese Story / Serie, von James Tynion IV & Joshua Williamson als Co-Autoren und Zeichner Francis Manapul, greift wohl Handlungsfäden aus Snyder’s und Greg Capullo’s derzeitigem Hit- Event "Dark Nights: Metal" auf  ...und mündet danach in einem neuen Volume der "Justice League"-Serie(n)!

Tom King schließlich wird gemeinsam mit Zeichner Clay Mann einen Prolog zu "Batman (Vol. 3)" # 50 beisteuern! Überraschung: Der Joker scheint mit der geplanten Hochzeit von Bruce (Batman) und Selina (Catwoman) gar nicht einverstanden zu sein... (Nur zur Erinnerung: das letzte mal wurde der Joker im METAL oneshot "Dark Days: The Casting" gesehen; in diesem Special erfuhr der geneigte Leser auch davon, das derzeit drei verschiedene -!- "Joker" existieren... davon einer gefangen gehalten in einem sublevel von Bruce' Batcave!)

...und es wird wohl eine Art Vorschau geben, auf das von DC geplante großformatige gratis -  "DC Nation" - Fan Magazin, welches dann ab Juni auf die interessierten Leser in den Comic-Shops warten wird.

"DC NATION" # 0 dürfte damit das "must-read"-item für jeden  Batman-, Superman- und "Justice League"- Leser werden!

ERGÄNZUNG: 

"DC NATION" # 0 erscheint zwar in der gleichen Woche, in der weltweit der "Free Comic Book Day" in Comic Shops gefeiert wird, ist aber  k e i n  "FCBD"-Titel!

Brian Michael Bendis' Pläne für DC, SUPERMAN, Jinxworld - Interview im "Forbes Magazine"

Vor wenigen Wochen kündigte Bestseller-Autor Brian Michael Bendis an, Marvel Comics (nach immerhin siebzehn Jahren) zu verlassen, um sein Glück bei DC Entertainment zu suchen...

Gestern nun haben DC und Bendis erste Details ihrer geplanten Zusammenarbeit  bekanntgegeben:

Bendis’ erste DC Story wird eine zehnseitige, von Jim Lee gestaltete, "Superman"-Geschichte sein, welche innerhalb der Jubiläums- Prestige-Format Ausgabe ACTION COMICS # 1000 erscheinen wird (das extra-fette, 80seitige  Heft mit Paperback-Bindung erscheint am 18. April).

Am 30. Mai erscheint schließlich die erste von insgesamt sechs Ausgaben der wöchentlichen "MAN OF STEEL" limited mini-series, in der Bendis nochmals die Ursprünge und Herkunft des Stählernen rekaptulieren wird... (das ist dann bereits die dritte "Man Of Steel"- Serie, nach der John Byrne - Mini von 1986 und der ongoing aus den 90er Jahren). Auch der Stadt "Metropolis" will der Autor sich ausführlichst widmen (wohl schon als vor-ab "tie-in" zur jüngst von Warner angekündigten "Metropolis" TV-Serie?!)

Alle sechs Titelbilder werden von Ivan Reis und Joe Prado gestaltet und ergeben nebeneinander gelegt ein Panorama-Bild mit Schlüsselszenen aus dem Leben Kal-El's.

Neben einer (erneuten) Wiedergabe der "Superman" - origin (nach J.M. Straczynsky's "Earth One", Geoff John's "Secret Origin" von 2006, Mark Waid's "Birthright" von 2003 usw.) enthält diese Version von Bendis aber auch den Erstauftritt eines neuen Schurken der "ein erschreckendes Geheimnis um die Vernichtung Kryptons kennen soll"... (evtl. passend zur demnächst startenden "Krypton" TV-Serie?)

Jedes Heft dieses Sechsteilers wird von einem anderen Zeichner betreut werden:  Ivan Reis, Evan “Doc” Shaner, Ryan Sook, Kevin Maguire, Adam Hughes sowie Jason Fabok.

Das Bindeglied zwischen Bendis' Kurz-Geschichte in "Action Comics" # 1000 und der "Man Of Steel" Mini-Serie (ein "prelude") erscheint dann Anfang Mai innerhalb des $ 0,25 - Promo-Heftes  "DC NATION" # 0 (dazu gleich an anderer Stelle mehr!)

Die "Superman-Story dort wird von "Supie-Zeichner-Legende" Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez -!!- gestaltet.

Die Story der "Man Of Steel" Mini-Serie mündet schließlich direkt in den beiden Supie-Haupt-Serien:  "Action Comics" # 1001 (Artwork von Pat Gleason; erhältlich ab 25. Juli) und  in "Superman (Vol. 5)" # 1 (ab 11. Juli). Wie schon 1987, als John Byrne "Superman" übernahm (Vol.2), erhält die "Superman" -betitelte Reihe erneut ein neues Volume.

"Superman (Vol. 5)" # 1 wird von Ivan Reis gezeichnet werden.
(Beide Heft-Serien werden ab Sommer wieder monatlich veröffentlicht werden!)

Lt. Bendis soll "Action Comics " künftig der "Character-orientierte" Heft-Titel werden, in dem sowohl neue Figuren (Helden, Schurken, Supporting Characters) eingeführt werden und Clark Kent und seine "Daily Planet" Kollegen im Mittelpunkt stehen...


“I can honestly tell you the choices we’ve made and bring to Superman are deeply connected to his origins. I don’t want to say too much right now, but it’s a reflection of where he came from and the world we live in now.” so Bendis.
 

“The fallout of "Man of Steel" #6 is enormous,” Bendis weiter. “It’s some of the biggest status quo changes to Superman literally since "Crisis on infinite earths". So we’ll be launching Superman with a brand new #1, and that’s going to be very Superman-focused and big DC action stories. Action Comics will be launching with #1001, I’m very happy to say, and that will be focused more on Clark and Metropolis and the Daily Planet, and how the world of Superman effects the world of DC.”

Bendis’ "Jinxsworld"-Titel, wie seine Creator-owned Serien Jinx, Powers, Torso, A.K.A. Goldfish and Scarlet, erhalten bei DC eine neue verlegerische Heimat . Brilliant, Fire, Fortune & Glory and Total Sellout werden demnächst alle auch digital von DC vertrieben werden.

Im laufe des Jahres sind aber auch neue Geschichten um Powers, Scarlet, The United States of Murder, Inc. angedacht...

DC  hat einen weiteren neuen Imprint angekündigt (ähnlich dem "Young Animal" Imprint von Gerard Way), bei dem  Bendis die Oberaufsicht führen wird.... Innerhalb dieses Imprints wird Bendis Abenteuer seiner Lieblings- DC- Figuren erzählen können, teilweise mit vom ihm neu-kreierten Figuren...

Comic-Verlag VALIANT an Film-Studio verkauft!

"The Hollywood Reporter" meldete gestern vorab, das der chinesische Konzern DMG Entertainment, der bereits vor einiger Zeit einen 57%igen Anteil am Comic-Verlag Valiant Entertainment erworben hatte, nun der alleinige Besitzer des Verlags ist.

DMG Sprecher Dan Mintz: “This is about taking it to the next level. I am not looking on expanding from a publishing standpoint but from a motion picture standpoint... 

...You can expect more strong storytelling with a defined road to other platforms. I’m also looking forward to bringing the writers close to the filmmaking process, which is something that is also important, and not keeping them siloed into the comic book area.”

Valiant, neben Marvel und DC Heimat des drittgrößten (hierzulande aber recht unbekannten)  "Superhelden"-Franchise,  hat z.Zt. drei Comic-Verfilmungen in Vorbereitung. "Archer & Armstrong", "Shadowman" (mit einem Drehbuch von  J. Michael Straczynski !) sowie "Bloodshot" (mit Vin Diesel in der Hauptrolle).

"Quantum and Woody" befindet sich in der Vorbereitungsphase zur TV-Serie und das US-network "the CW" ("Flash")  bereitet die Fernseh-Umsetzung der Comic-Reihe "Dr. Mirage" vor.

  ...da ja in den vergangenen Jahren sowohl DC Comics  wie auch (in besonders hohem Maße) Marvel Comics zu Drehbuch-Vorlagen-Lieferanten von Hollywood mutiert sind, widmen sich natürlich auch die Branchenblätter der US- Entertainment- Industrie (z.B. "Variety", "THR" etc.) inzwischen verstärkt der COMIC- Berichterstattung.

...es ist dabei schon interessant zu beobachten, wie "Fach Journalisten", die sonst nur über Kino, TV, Theater, Musik etc. schrieben, sich nun auch den graphischen Vorlagen vieler sogenannter "Blockbuster" movies widmen.

Besonders fallen mir hier schon seit längerer Zeit die lesenswerten Beiträge und Essays im "Hollywood Reporter" auf.

Das neue Jahr ist zwar bereits zu einem zwölftel herum, aber zum Jahreswechsel gab es hier zwei wirklich interessante Artikel über Marvel und DC zu lesen...

...ist eine Monat für Monat - Aufschlüsselung der verlegerischen Fehler die Disney's fröhlicher Superhelden-Verlag "Marvel Comics" begangen hat, und die den Verlag inzwischen (fast) die Marktanteilsvorherrschaft in den USA gekostet hat.

Ein Marvel Verantwortlicher zu den sinkenden Auflagenhöhen vieler Marvel-Serien:

...“What we heard was that people didn't want any more diversity,” he said. “They didn't want female characters out there. That's what we heard, whether we believe that or not. I don't know that that's really true, but that's what we saw in sales. We saw the sales of any character that was diverse, any character that was new, our female characters, anything that was not a core Marvel character, people were turning their nose up against.”...

DC Takes Over a Declining Market: Which Comics Sold Best in 2017 

...schlüsselt im Gegenzug dazu auf, wie Warner Brothers'  Comic-Book Bereich "DC" ein erfolgreiches Comeback mit seinen Comics ("Rebirth", "Doomsday Clock") und Graphic Novels hinlegte, während z.B. Marvel (mit seinen Filmen zwar sehr erfolgreich) im Comic Bereich sehr schwächelt...

..."Perhaps surprisingly, the big winner of 2017 looking at the top 10 list is DC’s crossover between its DC Universe and Watchmen properties. 

The first issue of the "Doomsday Clock" series charted third — and could end up higher on the final list for the year, depending on re-order numbers in December — but all four issues of the prologue storyline “The Button,” from summer issues of Batman and The Flash, also made it into the top 10. 

The crossover continues throughout 2018 with the remainder of the 12-issue "Doomsday Clock" series, with the second issue — out this week — bringing in a number of additional DCU characters, including Batman and Lex Luthor alongside Watchmen’s Adrian Veidt and Rorschach; it’ll be interesting to see how sales continue as the storyline evolves...."

This milestone issue will also include two 15-page stories from two of DC’s current and most popular talent teams: SUPERMAN writer Peter J. Tomasi and artist Pat Gleason, as well as ACTION COMICS writer and artist Dan Jurgens.
