Gilbert Hernandez - The Troublemakers HC
Preis: 18,95 Euro
Dig this scene! Low-life drug dealer Dewey Booth has $200,000 that even-lower-lifes want. BLING! Wes is a rock and roll loser who only wants to buy a club where nobody can tell him he can't sing or perform. WAILIN'! He's known Dewey for years, but that isn't enough to get his dough. Wes needs help. Nala is an uber-stacked bombshell whose pleasure in life is to seduce and then humiliate men dumb enough to fall for her. HUSH HUSH! For half the dough, she agrees to help Wes get Dewey's ill-gotten goods. Things don't go so well when a wily grifter from Wes's past shows up to complicate things. GULP! Vincene is another troublemaker who enjoys wrecking people's plans and wants the Dewey dough, too. In the end, deadly fires ignite, heads literally roll, eyes are shot out ? and all Wes wants to do is sing in a rock and roll club. The Troublemakers is the second volume in a series of original graphic novels in which Gilbert Hernandez creates comics adaptations of movies starring or co-starring Luba's half-sister Rosalba "Fritz" Martinez from Love and Rockets. The first, the dystopian Chance in Hell (in which Fritz has only a bit part), was released in 2007. This hard boiled, pulp graphic novel will delight longtime Hernandez fans as well as provide a perfect introduction to newcomers to Hernandez's work. Hardcover.(Last Gasp)

Chill mal wieder...

The Chill HC
Preis: 18,95 Euro
It’s summer in New York, but a “chill” has settled over the city – a serial killer is on the loose, and the ritualized murders are becoming increasingly sadistic. The NYPD and the FBI have a suspect: a gorgeous young woman named Arlana. The only problem is that every witness provides a different description of her. None of it makes any sense to anyone except Martin Cleary, a beaten-down Irish cop from Boston with a whopper of a secret in his past – and a past that may go back a century or two...(DC Vertigo)

Alec Omnibus nun auch vorrätig...

Preis: 32,95 Euro
For the first time ever, the groundbreaking autobiographical comics of master cartoonist Eddie Campbell (From Hell) are collected in a single, massive volume! Brilliantly observed and profoundly expressed, the Alec stories present a version of Eddie's own life, filtered through the alter ego of "Alec MacGarry." Over many years, we witness Alec's (and Eddie's) progression "from beer to wine" -- wild nights at the pub, existential despair, the hunt for love, the quest for art, becoming a responsible breadwinner, feeling lost at his own movie premiere, and much more! Eddie's outlandish fantasies and metafictional tricks convert life into art, while staying fully grounded in his own absurdity. At every point, the author's uncanny eye for irony and wry self-awareness make even the smallest occasion into an opportunity for wit and wisdom. Quite simply, Alec is a masterpiece of visual autobiography.

"Alec is magic, and even if I knew how all of it was done I'd be doing you a disservice if I pointed out the wires and mirrors... It is written by someone who obviously finds being alive an endless source of novelty and conundrum." -Alan Moore. "Do you need me to tell you how good Eddie Campbell is? Or that Alec is probably the best book-length comic about art and wine and midlife crises and families and friends and wine and love and art and saying goodbye and terror there is?" -Neil Gaiman. "Witty and thoughtful ... a great and epic comic documentary novel like no other." -Publishers Weekly (starred review). "This impressive collection -- a high-water mark in the graphic novel's short history -- confirms that no one else in the medium combines emotional truth, literary intelligence, and formal daring with such adroitness and elegance." OH MAN!
Dash Shaw - The Unclothed Man in the 35th Century A.D. HC
Preis: 18,95 Euro
One part MOME collection, one part authorized IFC Channel spinoff, the first quarter of this jacketed hardcover collects the work -- storyboards, scripts, character designs, etc. -- that Dash Shaw has created for a series of original shorts for IFC.com. The latter 3/4ths collect his acclaimed short comics from MOME, as well as several little-seen stories from elsewhere, and a new 20 page story. The Unclothed Man in the 35th Century A.D. is Shaw's first book since his breakthrough graphic novel of 2008, Bottomless Belly Button, which was named Publishers Weekly's best graphic novel of 2008, one of Entertainment Weekly's top ten books of 2008, and one of Amazon.com's top ten graphic novels of the year, amongst numerous other accolades. The book also collects Shaw's acclaimed, genre-bending short stories from MOME, including "Look Forward, First Son of Terra Two," a remarkable story of two lovers traveling in opposite directions... in time. Also featured: "Galactic Funnels," the 2008 Ignatz Award nominee for "Outstanding Story," about the parasitic relationship between an artist and his lover/mentor; "Satellite CMYK," a sci-fi mindwarp that ingeniously drives the narrative through Shaw's masterful control of color, and "Making the Abyss," a fictionalized story of a surreal film set filled with nuclear tanks, hot tubs, and blind ambition. Befitting the restless experimentation and innovation of Shaw's work, this slim hardcover features a first for Fantagraphics: a clear acetate overlay dust jacket, meant to evoke an animation cel. Color.(Last Gasp)

DISNEY / MARVEL verklagen Jack Kirby -Erben

Characteren.

Ohne Worte (weil's einfach geil aussieht):
